I was super excited to see this book available for review on NetGalley. I loved the previous Beekman book, which I first saw at an ALA conference, and I was pretty confident that they would hit this one out of the park. I was not disappointed. This book is absolutely beautiful. The photography is sumptuous and rich and all the food looks delicious – their food stylist deserves a pat on the back.

The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Dessert Cookbook has a mix of traditional recipes (think Banana Pudding with Vanilla Cookies!) and more unusual recipes (chocolate soup?! why did I not think of that sooner!). It’s the kind of cookbook you could give to a foodie or to someone who is looking for well executed versions of the classics. Each recipe has a spot for notes and there is a larger section for your own family’s heirloom recipes at the end of each chapter.

I will most likely be adding this one to my personal collection, since I saw several desserts I’d like to put into my holiday rotation. This book would make a great Christmas gift for the foodies in your life,
